Obama already has 338 electoral votes and he could very well win North Carolina and Indiana!

McCaul beat Larry Joe Doherty in TX-10. Oh well.

Staying up for a bit to see how Prop 8's doing (exit polls show it losing but it's close) and to avoid a hangover tomorrow :-)

I'm curious about how California's location in the Pacific time zone could affect Prop 8. If Californians feel like they don't need to vote because it's already over, then those who are more moderate and don't have strong feelings on prop 8 might not vote. Not sure which side that would help more, or whether it's even enough of an effect to consider.

SFGate and LATimes both show "Yes" leading, but with only 26% of precincts reporting. It'll be a long night.

Sad to say, but I think that it's over. I don't think that it's possible to defeat prop 8 without the support of Los Angeles County since LA county is about 1/3rd of the state in population and tends to be more liberal than the state as a whole. Boo.

I was really optimistic about this not passing, but now I'm not sure where that optimism came from. CA is a minority-majority state, and most minorities lean socially conservative (especially with regard to gays).

I was optimistic because it's CA. According to Palin and gang, it's the most liberal place in the UNIVERSE. Damn Hollywood liberals couldn't even deliver.
