STOLL,
JULIUS, JR., M.D., 87, of Medway Place, Providence, RI, passed away on
November 9, 2006. He was the husband of Ann (Tyler) Stoll.
Born in Rochester, NY, he was a graduate of the University of Rochester
and Syracuse Medical School. He was a Medical Officer in the United
States Navy and served as a Lieutenant in the Pacific during WWII. He
was a resident at Baltimore City Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital,
Montreal Neurological Institute, and North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
He was Surgeon-In-Chief of the Department of Neurological Surgery at RI
Hospital from 1954 through 1985 and attained the academic title of
Clinical Professor Emeritus of Clinical Neuroscience, Brown University
School of Medicine.
He was Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of the RI Workers' Compensation Court from 1992 through 2004.
He was a member of numerous medical organizations including the Friday
Night Medical Club. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the Hope Club
in Providence, and the Dunes Club in Narragansett. He was on the Board
of Directors of the Audubon Society of RI.
Besides his wife,
Ann, he is survived by his son, Richard Stoll of Houston, TX, his
daughter, Margaret Carrol of Boulder, UT, three grandchildren, Gregory,
Jessica, and Carolyn Stoll all of Texas. He was the brother of Richard
Stoll, Jane Angell, and Florentine Brockway, and several nieces and
nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m.
in the Chapel of Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd., Providence. He
will be laid to rest in Swan Point Cemetery. Contributions in his
memory may be made to Audubon Society of R.I. or to the Boy Scouts of
America, Narragansett Council.
