(in chronological order)

- My sister wonderjess got into grad school at Wash U - congrats!!

- Game night last night was fun - we played games that we don't usually play, which is always interesting. After people left, I stayed up too late...

- ...finishing my guild information table mod! There are instructions for installing it (and the source for it).

- This morning was weighing morning, and I lost a pound and some not too insignificant portion of my body fat! I still have a long way to go to get to my goals (I'm about 10% of the way there for both weight and body fat percentage), but the trend over the last month has been pretty consistently downward.

- I'm drinking a mocha!

That reminds me, I need to shanghaii your scale again and check my own body fat percentage. Damn thing's been haunting me since David first put me on it!

Looking forward to installing the mod :)

I guess that usage of shanghaii is probably politically incorrect, huh? Silly PCness ruining our run colloquialisms...

My worst habit of non-pc colloquialisms is "cotton picking". Or "j[e|u]ry-rig". But few people get offended by juryrig.

Is "jury-rig" bad? I have no association between the expression and an actual jury, but who knows how it started...

It's originally "jerry-rig" as in Jerry == German. Also in some areas there is an equivalent expression of "nigger-rig". jerry-rig has become jury-rig and noone really takes offense anymore, but technically it is anti-german. I'm not sure if anti-german from WWI & WWII era or from turn of the century immigration times.

So then, jerryrig is bad, but juryrig is PC :)

I am reminded of the following article at Wikipedia:

btw, I have never before seen Shanghai spelled with two 'i's. But I googled it and apparently a few hundred people have done it before you. Interesting.

Actually, the jury is still out about the background:

Jerico origin
German Origin

Seems like it's a combination of Jury-rig (defined by wildrice13 above), and Jerry-rig which seems to have multiple possible origins.
There is also the related term "jerry built" which seems like it might have combined with jury-rig to create jerry-rig.
It is a very marginally possibly slightly offensive expression.

We got one too! It's been very nice and has been giving me nice numbers recently...

Yeah - I was a little skeptical at first, but it's been fairly consistent over the six weeks or so I've used it.

Is that the one in St Louis, or University of Washington? If it's the latter, let her know I'd be glad to help if she needs anything up here.

It's the one in St. Louis (which my other sister is currently attending ). But thanks!
