So my family made it to my apartment at 4 AM this morning. For those keeping score, that makes a 17 hour trip from Houston to Austin. Luckily they were able to get gas near the end (they didn't use the A/C to save gas...), and they made it just fine, albeit tired and such. Maggie (our cat) made it as well, and although she was a little skittish at first, she seemed fine this morning, although a little starved for attention :-)

So whatever else happens, I feel a lot better. Although I am tired (stayed up late, went to bed before they got here and then I was kinda wound up so it took me a while to get back to sleep), but that I can deal with. And my mom brought banana nut bread :-)

Glad your parents made it safely :) Where do you live in Houston? My parents are on the SW side, so hopefully they'll be safe in their house. Your mom's really thoughtful to bring you banana nut bread!

My family lives inside the loop, on the SW side. Rita's headed more east/north, so I think SW side is a good place to be.

Yeah, it was a nice normal thing in this weird situation :-)

You ok on cat supplies? I have an extra litter box and stuff (toys, etc) if you need it.

And I'm negotiating a Saturday night Hurricane Party with Britton right now. Bring your folks, it'll be fun and something to do besides be crowded into your little apartment. (I'll put details on my lj when we get them, as well as emailing to people that might be around.)

Yeah, my parents brought food and kitty litter (and a litter box), so I think we're all good. Thanks, though!

Cool - we'll see if we can make it :-)
