After that it was time to head back to the mainland. The Honolulu airport is really bizarre, though - the gates are indoors (and quite nice, as you can see here), but walking between them is open air, and in fact a shuttle bus drives around inside the ai

Here's a map of the airport that will hopefully give you some sense of the craziness. Note the long walk from, say, gate 23 to gate 26, especially since most of it is outside!
